New Releases 11/20: RUSH, ROGER WATERS, PUNCH BROTHERS & More…

As we get closer to the holidays, there are some weeks that will be sparse on the options of new musical releases, and this is one of those weeks. It is not to say that there aren’t any decent possibilities for an album review, especially with a few releases from some of rock’s finest. Roger Waters is releasing his take of Pink Floyd’s storied album, on “Roger Waters The Wall” and Rush celebrates its 40th anniversary with release of “R40 Live”. The 50th Anniversary of the Grateful Dead was all the buzz for the first half of 2015, and to commemorate a compilation of the “Fare Thee Well” concerts in Chicago, “The Best Of Fare Thee Well”, as well as the complete recording from the final night of the run “Fare Thee Well: 7/05/15”, are being released on Friday. There are a few other albums that seem like good choices, at least from my initial samplings.

  • Adele- “25”
  • Fourplay- “Silver”
  • Freddie Gibbs- “Shadow Of A Doubt”
  • Grateful Dead- “Fare Thee Well: The Best Of Fare Thee Well”
  • Grateful Dead- “Fare Thee Well: 7/05/15”
  • Leslie West- “Sound Check”
  • Manegarm- “Manegarm”
  • Martin Crane- “Physical Therapy”
  • Natalie Prass- “Side By Side”            (ep)
  • Punch Brothers– “The Wireless”                 (ep)
  • Roger Waters- “Roger Waters The Wall”
  • Rush- “R40 Live”
  • The Carburetors- “Laughing In The Face Of Death”
  • Tinariwen- “Live In Paris”

This is the best of the small pool of new albums, coming out this Friday. As usual, I will do some closer listening before choosing one of these for a review. I will post the review on Saturday, so check back then to see which album I pick and to read the review. That’s What I Know, So That’s What You Know!!

Though there is less live music to hear over the holiday week, the music venues along the Front Range get back into the swing, next week. There are some tremendous shows at Red Rocks, not to mention some of the other outdoor venues along the Front Range. As usual, I have marked the shows I recommend with an * after the venue name. For more information on extensive lists of shows and festivals still to come, on the Coming Attractions and Festival Time pages. Whatever you do, be sure to get out and hear some live music, local or otherwise. That’s What I Know, So That’s What You Know!! Enjoy!!
