ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2015, ANNOUNCED!!

The nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Class Of 2015 were announced awhile ago, but the inductees were announced today. The six acts being inducted into the Hall Of Fame, next year, include Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, Bill Withers, Lou Reed, Green Day, Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Personally, I feel that most of these acts would have been inducted at some point, but I’m not sure now was the time for all of them to be honored.

Some of the other nominated acts that didn’t make the short list, were Sting, Kraftwerk, Chic, N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, War, The Smiths, The Spinners and The Marvelettes. I think it is easy for many of us to see how some of these acts probably deserve to get in the Hall Of Fame, before the actual inductees. Based on longevity and success, I can certainly understand how it may seem that Sting, Nine Inch Nails and War should be shoe-ins. If it appears to be a travesty that these acts are not being inducted, it is, but not as big a travesty, as the list of acts that weren’t even nominated and some that should have been years ago, before the likes of Madonna and Donna Summer. Bands like Foreigner, Yes, The Cure and Jethro Tull have qualified for years, but are continually slighted. There are a few other acts that haven’t been eligible for long, but shouldn’t have to wait include Phish, Soundgarden and The Pixies. Other acts waiting on the Hall Of Fame are Blue Oyster Cult, MC5, The Moody Blues, Dick Dale, The Monkees, Chicago, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and The Meters. If the folks voting could chip away at this list every year, instead of trying to get creative, by inducting Abba before Rush or KISS, that would be greatly appreciated.

The 30th induction ceremony will take place in Cleveland on April 18. Ringo Starr will also be honored as part of the festivities. That’s What I Know, So That’s What You Know!!
