The list of live music to hear along the Front Range, for the last week of February, is a pretty bountiful one. There is some great local music, as well as incredible national acts playing in the area, next week. As usual, I have marked the shows I recommend with an *, after the venue name. For more shows that are scheduled along the Front Range for the next several months, check the Coming Attractions page. That’s What I Know, So That’s What You Know!! Enjoy!!

HAPPY LISTENING!!!! 😉

New Releases 1/22: TORTOISE, MEGADETH, AOIFE O’ DONOVAN & More…

Though, the list of new releases for this Friday, doesn’t include many well known acts, it is a full one, that required some trimming to keep it within twenty albums. The biggest names on the list are metal veterans Megadeth, experimental jazz-rock outfit Tortoise, and alternative folk songstress Aoife O’Donovan.  Besides these artists, I was also interested in the new release by the Matt Flinner Trio, which has Colorado connections to Flinner and  Trio members Ross Martin and Eric Thorin. Personally, many of the other artists with albums coming out this week are not acts I am familiar with, besides some of their names, so I will sample all of these to get a feel for their music.

  • Adrian Younge- “Something About April II”
  • Aoife O’Donovan- “In The Magic Hour”
  • Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy- “Pond Scum”
  • Charlie Hilton- “Palana”
  • Conrad Keely- “Original Machines”
  • Eleanor Friedberger- “New View”
  • King Charles- “Gamble For A Rose”
  • Matt Flinner Trio- “Travelling Roots”
  • Megadeth- “Dystopia”
  • Promise & The Monster- “Feed The Fire”
  • Savages- “Alone Life”
  • Shearwater- “Jet Plane & Oxbow”
  • Sonya Kitchell- “We Come Apart”
  • Sweet Honey In The Rock- “# Love In Evolution”
  • The Besnard Lakes- “A Coliseum Complex Museum”
  • The Cactus Blossoms- “You’re Dreaming”
  • The Casualties- “Chaos Sound”
  • The High Llamas- “Here Come The Rattling Trees”
  • Tindersticks- “The Waiting Room”
  • Tortoise- “The Catastrophist”

This is the best and most complete list of new releases, so far this year. As usual, I will pick one of these albums to review and will post the review next Saturday. Check-back then to see which album I pick and to read the review. That’s What I Know, So That’s What You Know!!
