EARTH, WIND & FIRE FOUNDER, MAURICE WHITE PASSES AT 74 :-(

As many of you already know, we lost Earth, Wind & Fire’s Maurice White, to complications from Parkinson’s disease. White died yesterday in his home in California. Maurice was the founding member, singer/songwriter, drummer, arranger and record producer for soul-funk powerhouse Earth, Wind & Fire. The band is best known for hits like “September”, “Boogie Wonderland”, “Shining Star”, “Sing A Song” and “Fall In Love With Me”, among others. White’s brother Fred was a former member and his other brother, Verdine, is still a member of the group. Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into, both, the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame. Maurice was individually inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. White was also nominated for a total of 21 Grammys, winning 7 of those. Besides, Earth, Wind & Fire, Maurice also worked with artists like Barbara Streisand, The Emotions and Neil Diamond. In the late 80’s, White was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and by 1994, he had stopped touring with the band, but continued to work in the music business.
